The Ventura College women's soccer team dropped its Western State Conference game at Santa Barbara on Friday, 3-1. After giving up an early score to the Vaqueros, VC leveled the score in the 38th minute before SBCC got goals late in the first half and early in the second to set the final margin.
Santa Barbara took the early lead with a score in the third minute of the game. The two teams then settled in and VC found the equalizer in the 38th minute when Daisy Cisneros assisted a score by Alyssa Cornwell.
The Pirates (4-5-3, 1-1-0), who were awarded a forfeit win over Cuesta in their WSC opener on Wednesday, a win that will only be counted for seeding purposes in the post-season, gave up a goal in the 44th minute to trail 2-1 at halftime.
The Vaqueros expanded the advantage six minutes into the second half, setting the final 3-1 margin.
