Ventura Drops Regular Season Finale at Pierce

The Pirates' women's soccer team's unbeaten streak ended at 14 games on Friday when VC dropped a 2-1 decision in Woodland Hills to Los Angeles Pierce College. Alix Tirado scored the lone goal for Ventura (15-3-3, 9-1-2), who despite the loss, completed its 17th Western State Conference championship, finishing six points ahead of the Brahmas atop the table.

After a scoreless first half, Tirado got the Pirates on the board in the 65th minute, slotting the ball into the left corner of he goal assisted by Stephany Ramirez

The Brahmas came back, however,and scored the equalizer three minutes later off a direct kick, hitting the crossbar and deflecting into the goal. Pirece connected for the game-winner in the 72nd minute from the penalty spot.

Kambria Haughton and Aaliyah Lopez combined in goal for nine saves on the evening.

The Pirates will now await their post-season fate, and are hoping for a home game on Saturday Nov. 20 at the VC Sportsplex.
