VC freshman Anahi Andrade scored on a penalty kick Tuesday afternoon as the Pirates clinched the WSC North Division title with a 3-0 win at Oxnard.

With two goals by Jennifer Ramirez, a successful penalty kick from Anahi Andrade and a shutout in goal by Kambria Haughton, the VC women's soccer team returned to the mountain top, defeating Oxnard 3-0 Tuesday afternoon and clinching the program's 17th Western State Conference North Division championship. VC (14-2-3, 8-0-2) dominated the game with 16 shots, 11 on goal, to the Condors' two shots with one on target.

Ramirez scored the first goal of the day in the 10th minute with an assist all the way from Haughton in goal. The 1-0 score remained through halftime and well into the second half of play.

Andrade converted a penalty kick in the 80th minute to extend the margin to 2-0 before Ramirez scored off a corner kick by Lizbeth Payne in the 84th.

The Pirates clinched the 17th conference crown in 26 years for head coach Steve Hoffman. It is Ventura's first title since 2016 and ends Santa Barbara's four-plus season stranglehold on the top of the table. Ironically, the Vaquero's helped the Pirates clinch the title Tuesday with a 3-0 win over second place LA Pierce. Ventura, who stretched their unbeaten streak to 13 games dating back to Sept. 17, has 26 points in the standings while Pierce has 17 with two games remaining for each side on the circuit.

Ventura will host its final regular season home game of 2021 on Tuesday Nov. 9 against Cuesta. Kickoff at the Sportsplex is slated for 6:30 pm.
