Women's Soccer Shuts Out Hancock on the Road

The VC women's soccer team continued their unbeaten streak with a 2-0 shutout win over Allan Hancock College Tuesday afternoon in Santa Maria. Alix Tirado scored a pair of goals and Aaliyah Lopez had a pair of saves for the win in goal for Ventura (9-2-1, 3-0). With the triumph, VC stretched their unbeaten streak to six games, including four wins in a row.

Tirado got the Pirates on the board in the 32nd minute of the game, taking a pass from Justice Jones and finishing the play for a 1-0 advantage.

Early in the second half, Tirado converted her second goal of the night and 14th goal of the season, taking a long cross from the right side by Stephany Ramirez and putting into the back of the net.

Ventura dominated the offensive end with 15 shots, eight on goal, compared to seven shots by Hancock, two of which were on frame.

The Pirates, who are ranked No. 10 in the latest United Soccer Coaches National Poll and No. 8 in the California Community College Sports Information Association State Poll, will next host Oxnard College at Friday Oct. 8 at the VC Sportsplex. Kickoff is slated for 6:30 pm.
