On their longest road trip of the season on the heels of dropping a heartbreaking game on Sunday, the Pirates' women's soccer team could not get the offense moving Tuesday afternoon in San Luis Obispo, falling to Cuesta College 2-0. The Pirates had 14 shots in the game with six on goal and Aracely Castro had four saves in the game for VC (11-6-3, 6-4-1). The Cougars scored goals in the 44th and 63rd minutes for the final margin.

The loss locks the Pirates into third place in the Western State Conference North Division standings. Santa Barbara (8-1-2) has clinched the title with 27 points following Tuesday's win over Oxnard and Cuesta (7-3-2) has 23 points. VC (6-4-1) has 19 points. SBCC and VC each have one game remaining while Cuesta has completed its regular season.

The Pirates will close the regular season at home on Friday Nov. 15 against Los ANgeles Pierce College. Kickoff is slated for 5:30 pm at the VC Sportsplex.
