Ventura Returns from Bakersfield With 2-0 Victory

The VC women's soccer team traveled over the Grapevine Friday and came home with a 2-0 victory over Bakersfield College. Jasmin Ambriz had a goal and an assist, and Yadi Raigoza also found the back of the net while the Pirates posted their sixth shutout in nine outings this season. Goalie Aracely Castro recorded three saves for Ventura (5-2-2).

Ambriz put VC ahead in the 28th minute with a goal off an assist by Aleesa Ramirez. She then assisted Raigoza's score in the 51st minute for the 2-0 result.

Ventura had 18 shots in the match with eight in the frame.

The Pirates open their Western State COnference North Division schedule on Tuesday Oct. 1 at Santa Barbara. Kickoff is slated for 7:00 pm at La Playa Stadium.
