The Ventura College women's soccer team traveled to Santa Monica College Friday, dropping a 1-0 decision to the Corsairs. The loss ends the Pirates' (4-1-2) unbeaten games streak at six, the longest such streak to begin the season in at least 10 years. SMC (3-0-2) remained unbeaten with the result.

The Corsairs found the next in the 20th minute of play, and made the score stand up throughout the rest of the contest. The Pirates produced 10 shots offensively, with seven on goal. Aracely Castro had four saves in the net for the Pirates, who next will host Citrus College on Tuesday Sept. 24 at 6:30 pm.
