Ventura Defeats Moorpark on Sophomore Night at the Sportsplex

The Pirates' women's soccer team was dominant Tuesday night, defeating visiting Moorpark 4-0 in VC's final regular season home game. Yadi Raigoza netted a pair of gaols with an assist to lead the way while Audrey Castillo found the net once and recorded one assist. During pre-game introductions, the Pirates' (9-6-5, 6-1-1) honored their sophomore players taking the pitch for the final time at the VC Sportsplex.

Raigoza got VC on the board in the 10th minute, taking Castillo's assist and converting it for the 1-0 advantage. In the 15th minute, Castillo redirected  a shot by Raigoza into the back of the net for another score. In the 35th minute, Jasmin Ambriz takes a centering pass from Castillo and slotted a shot past the goalie for a 3-0 edge at halftime.

In the second half, the Pirates maintained control of the ball throughout. Raigoza finished off the scoring, hitting a 30-yard shot off a free kick in the 67th minute.

The Pirates had 20 shots in the game, with 13 on goal.  Defensively, goalie Maya Escobar had a pair of saves.

Ventura heads north for the regular season finale on Friday Nov. 9 taking on Cuesta at 4:00 pm in San Luis Obispo.
