Pirate Soccer Blanks Hancock; Hosts SBCC Tuesday

The Ventura College women's soccer team shut out Allan Hancock College Friday afternoon in Santa Maria, setting up a match-up Tuesday with conference-leading Santa Barbara on Tuesday at the VC Sportsplex. Yamile Mondragon, Anna Escobar and Miranda Vasquez recorded scores for the Pirates (7-6-4, 5-1) as they solidified their hold on second place in the Western State Conference North Division.

Mondragon got VC on the board in the 31st minute off an assist by Audrey Castillo. After halftime, Escobar netted a goal with help by Yareli Vasquez. Miranda Vasquez  put the game away in the 89th minute with a goal with an assist by Yadi Raigoza.

Ventura had 35 shots on the day with 19 on goal. 

Pirate goalie Maya Escobar had three saves.

The Pirates next host Santa Barbara on Tuesday Oct. 30. Kickoff at the Sportsplex between the two top teams in the WSC is slated for 7:00 pm.
