17-18 Pirate Soccer Named United Soccer Coaches Academic Team

The 2017 Ventura College women's soccer team has been named a Collegiate Team Academic Award Winner for the 2017-18 academic year by the United Soccer Coaches, formerly the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. The Pirates were one of 488 women's teams throughout the country that earned the Team Academic Award and this is the third such award earned by the program. VC was also honored in 2011 and 2014.

The Team Academic Award was created to recognize student athletes' commitment to excellence in the classroom. To be eligible for the College Team Academic Award, the nominated program must be a current member of United Soccer Coaches College Services. For a team to be considered for the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award, it must have a composite team grade point average of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) for all team members who appear on the official NCAA, NAIA, NCCAA or junior college roster forms for the fall season. All players on the roster must be included in the calculation of the team GPA, and the nomination form must be signed by a college or university official.
