The Pirate soccer team can't catch a break. They broke out of their offensive slump with a three goal performance at Los Angeles Pierce College Friday in Woodland Hills, only to fall to the host Brahmas 4-3. Audrey Castillo had a pair of goals while Yamile Mondragon had a goal and an assist in the match for Ventura (1-5-3).

Mondragon got VC on the board with an unassisted goal in the ninth minute of the game. Castillo followed closely with a score off a Mondragon assist in the 15th minute, and then scored with an assist by Sirena Romero in the 34th minute.

The Pirates totaled 14 shots on the day with 11 on goal. Goalie Aracely Castro recorded eight saves in the net for Ventura.

VC returns to the pitch at the Sportsplex on Tuesday Sept. 25 with a 6:00 pm contest against Santa Monica.
