On a cool and breezy late summer nigh, the Pirates' women's soccer team played visiting East Los Angeles College to a 1-1 draw Tuesday at the Sportsplex. Despite having 23 shots in the game, 12 on goal, Ventura's lone score was by Paulina Aldrete in the 11th minute off the rebound of an Audrey Castillo corner kick. Goalie Aracely Castro had 2 saves for VC (1-4-3).

Ventura dominated the ball in the early going, following up Aldrete's goal with numerous scoring opportunities with a pair of corner kicks and two free kicks from just outside the penalty box. VC could not fund the inside of the net, however, scoring just one goal in the first 45 minutes of play.

The Huskies responded early in the second half with a goal on a breakaway in the 53rd minute to tie the score at 1-1.

VC kept up the fight, producing more scoring opportunities, but the Pirates could not find the net.

The Pirates next travel to Woodland Hills on Friday Sept. 21 for a match against Los Angeles Pierce College.
