The Pirate soccer team exploded offensively Friday night, routing visiting Cuesta College 7-0 at the Sportsplex in Western State Conference play. Audrey Castillo had a pair of goals and an assist while Kayla Simmons Allon scored once with an assist, as did Paola Gonzalez. Goalies Eva Mcmillan and Maya Escobar combined for the shutout victory for VC (6-7-2, 2-0).

The outcome of the match was never in doubt as the Pirates were able to move the ball almost with impunity against the Cougars. Carolina Apodaca Morales netted the first score with an assist by Gonzales in the fifth minute before Gonzales found the back of the net in the 21st minute with a helper from Castillo. Simmons Allon made the score 3-0 in the 25th minute, netting a goal with help from Sirena Romero.

Three minutes later the Pirates made it 4-nil when Castillo scored the first of her two goals, with an assist from Justine Reyes. In the 35th minute, Castillo scored again, off the pass from Simmons Allon.

The Pirate attack slowed a bit in the second half, but VC still controlled the ball. Sierra Patton scored with an assist by Miranda Vasquez in the 68th minute, and Patton was on the attack again when Cuesta scored an own-goal in the 85th minute.

The Pirates will hot the road for five straight matches, beginning on Tuesday Oct. 17 against Cal Lutheran's JV team in Thousand Oaks. Ventura resumes WSC play on Friday Oct. 20 at Santa Barbara.
