The VC women's soccer team hit the road for the first time this season on Monday evening, dropping a 4-0 result at College of the Canyons in Valencia. The Pirates, the defending Western State Conference North Division co-champions (1-1) trailed 1-0 at halftime before giving up three additional goals to the Cougars, the defending WSC East Division champions.

Defenders Kayla Simmons Allon and Sirena Romero both had solid outings for the Pirates, and goalie Eva Mcmillan recorded three saves in the net. The Pirates had 12 shots offensively, with eight on goal, but they could not manage to punch in a score.

Ventura returns home on Thursday and Saturday, Aug. 31 and Sept. 2, hosting the three-day Nike Soccer Community College Showcase at the VC Sportsplex and West Field. VC will host Hartnell College at 8:00 pm on Thursday before concluding the tournament against Clovis Community College on Satruday at 3:00 pm.
