After an early morning trip north, the Ventura College women's soccer team posted a 1-0 win over San Francisco in the Las Positas Showcase in Livermore Friday afternoon. Janelle Garcia recorded the game-winner in the 28th minute of play with an assist from Michelle Rios.
Ventura (2-1) had 23 shots in the match with 12 on target. Amy Neidiffer had five saves in goal for Ventura in recording the shutout.
The Pirates will stay the weekend in the Bay Area, playing Las Positas on Sunday Sept. 11 at 10:00 am before the ride home. Ventura will host Rio Hondo on Tuesday Sept. 13 at 6:00 pm at the Sportsplex.
