The Ventura College soccer team fell to visiting Evergreen Valley College 2-0 Saturday afternoon to close the Nike Soccer Community College Showcase at the Sportsplex.  The Pirates offense was unable to find the back of the next, despite taking 16 shots in the game with nine on goal.

The Hawks, from San Jose, took a 1-0 lead as the first half came to a close.  They put the match out of reach with a second score ten minutes after halftime and held on for the shutout win.

Evergreen Valley kept Pirate goal keeper Marissa Dominguez busy with nine shots, all on goal. Dominguez turned back seven of the shots.

Ventura (1-1) will be on the road Friday and Sunday, Sept. 9 and 11 at the Las Positas Showcase in Livermore. They will face San Francisco on Friday at 2pm before taking on the hosts at 10:00 am on Sunday.  VC returns home on Tuesday Sept. 13 against Rio Hondo at 6:00 pm.
