The Ventura College women's soccer team took down Cuesta College 3-0 in San Luis Obispo Tuesday afternoon. The Pirates were paced offensively by Megan Henderson who netted a pair of goals. Josselyne Pereda scored the other goal for the Pirates. Goalkeeper Amy Neidiffer collected six saves in the shutout victory.

Henderson put the Pirates ahead in the 10th minute of the match when she was able to find the goal with an assist from Rae Ritchie. The early goal eventually proved to be enough, but the Pirate offense was not finished. Henderson took a pass from Adrina Palacios in the 17th minute and converted it into a score and a 2-0 Pirate advantage. The early game offensive attack continued when Pereda drew a foul on the Cougars inside their own penalty area and was awarded a penalty kick. Pereda found the back of the net for the final Ventura goal of the match.

Neidiffer, who had shutout Cuesta earlier in the season, was able to continue her stellar play by turning away each of the Cougars shots on the afternoon. The Pirates utilized an efficient offense to keep the pressure away from Neidiffer by controlling the field and keeping the ball in their half of the field the majority of the match. This ball control allowed VC to take 11 shots in the match with seven of those shots coming on goal.

On Friday Nov. 6 the Pirates will travel to Oxnard College and take on the Condors in a 3:00 pm match. VC's next home match will be on Tuesday Nov. 10 when they take on Los Angeles Pierce in a 6:00 pm match.
