Jennifer Orozco lead a Pirate offensive outburst over Cuesta in 5-0 victory with two goals and two assists.

After a string of tough one goal losses, the Ventura College women's soccer team unleashed an offensive onslaught with a 5-0 victory over visiting Cuesta on Friday afternoon. Jennifer Orozco netted a pair of goals and added two assists to lead the Pirates offensive attack while Jennifer Magana added a goal and an assist. The Pirates (2-8-2, 1-1) attempted 22 shots in the game with 15 on goal.

VC wasted little time with Orozco picking up her first goal of the day on an assist from Magana in the sixth minute. Orozco found the back of the net again in the 14th with Adrina Palacios picking up the assist. The Pirates kept the pressure on early and often when Palacios and Orozco paired up again in the 24th minute.  Orocio hit a through ball that was controlled by Palacios, who shot from 20 yards out.  The Cuesta goal keeper got two hands on the ball, but could not control it as it trickled into the net. In the waning minutes of the first half the Ventura narrowly missed a fourth goal when the Cuesta keeper defended a close range shot.

Early in the second half the Pirates kept their foot on the accelerator, frequently pressuring the Cougars goal keeper with several scoring chances. Orozco set up Rae Ritchie for a close range attempt on the opening drive which the Cougars were able to turn away. Jennifer Magana picked up the Pirates fourth goal in the 74th minute off of Orozco's second assist of the match. Ventura was not finished, however, and Orozco continued to pressure the Cuesta defense looking for a hat trick.  She narrowly missed her third goal on an aggressive scoring chance in the 78th minute. Josselyne Pereda rounded out the Pirates' offensive attack by picking up an unassisted goal in the 82nd minute on a beautiful strike from nearly 20 yards out just inside the penalty box.

With the Pirates spending the majority of the game in the offensive zone, goalkeeper Amy Neidiffer did not see much action. She did pick up one save in the game to preserve the shutout, the second of the season for VC and the first resulting in victory.

The Pirates will look to build on the momentum from Friday's dominating effort when they host Oxnard College Tuesday Oct. 13 at the VC Sportsplex.  Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
