The Pirate soccer team had a strong effort against the No. 3-ranked team in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll, but fell by a 2-1 score Saturday afternoon at Fresno City College.  Kat Jordan scored the Pirates' lone goal unassisted.

VC (1-7-2) completed its grueling non-conference schedule, falling victim to a 50-yard free kick by the Rams for the game winner.  FCC also scored when a ball deflected off a VC defender's back.

The Pirates had 10 shots in the game, but only two were on goal.  Amy Neidiffer had two saves in the first half in goal for the Pirates.

Ventura begins its Western State Conference docket on Tuesday Oct. 6 with a trip to intra-county rival Moorpark College.  Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 pm on Raider Pitch.
