Soccer Drops Close Match at East Los Angeles

Despite a pair of goals from freshman forward Melissa Aldrete, the Pirate soccer team dropped another close decision, 3-2 at East Los Angeles College Tuesday afternoon.  Ventura , playing on the road for the fifth straight game, fell behind early and was never able to overtake the Huskies.

ELAC took the early 1-0 lead before Aldrete converted an assist from Adrina Palacios to even the score in the 19th minute.  

The Huskies regained their advantage before Josselyne Pereda assisted Aldrete's second score in the 31st minute.

After heading into halftime all level, East Los Angeles scored again in the second half to take the 3-2 decision.

The Pirates (1-4-2) had 19 shots in the game, with 11 finishing on goal.  

Goal keeper Amy Neidiffer recorded three saves for Ventura.

Up next, Ventura travels to defending state champion Cerritos College on Saturday Sept. 26 before returning home to face Rio Hondo on Thursday Oct. 1.
