Karen Medina converted an assist from Jennifer Orozco in the 89th minute to help the Pirates salvage a 2-2 tie at Bakersfield College Friday night. Orozco also scored the first goal of the game off of a cross by Kat Jordan in the 24th minute.
After taking the early 1-0 lead, the Pirates gave up a penalty kick to the Renegades shortly thereafter. Early in the second half, the Pirates gave up an own goal, falling behind 2-1. VC missed a penalty kick in the second half before the Medina equalizer in the closing minutes.
Ventura (1-3-2) had 19 shots in the game with eight on goal. Amy Neidiffer had three saves in the net for the Pirates defensively.
the Pirates travel to East Los Angeles College on Tuesday Sept. 22 for a 3:00 pm match before heading to Cerritos on Saturday Sept. 26.
