Pirates End Skid With Victory at Cuesta

After a fast 4-0 start, the Ventura College women's soccer team went four matches without a win before Tuesday's 2-1 triumph in San Luis Obispo at Cuesta College.  Miranda Campos and Sabrina Lopez each scored for the Pirates (5-2-2, 1-0-1).

Miranda Campos put the Pirates ahead in the first half, finding the back of the net with an assist from Merissa Campos in the 39th minute. VC took a 1-0 lead into intermission.

The Cougars managed the equalizer early in the second half, scoring in the 52nd minute.  The game remained tied until Lopez scored unassisted in the 86th minute to give VC their first win in Western State Conference play.

VC outshot Cuesta 17-5 in the match, and goalie Katelyn White had one save.

Ventura will next travel to Oxnard on Friday Oct. 10 for a 2:00 pm match before hosting Pierce College on Tuesday Oct. 14 at the VC Sportsplex at 6:00 pm.
