Pirate goalie Katelyn White had eight saves in shutting out San Diego Miramar on Monday in VC's 0-0 tie with the Jets.

The VC women's soccer team played Miramar College to a scoreless draw Monday afternoon in San Diego.  Ventura goal keeper Katelyn White had eight saves in the match to anchor a solid defensive effort for VC (4-2-1).  It was the Pirates' first scoreless tie since a 0-0 result against Moorpark on November 6, 2007.

White keyed the strong defensive effort, and received help from defenders Delanie Gavid, Miranda Campos and Melissa Cardenas.

Ventura had seven corner kicks, compared to the Jets' five, but significant saves by both goal keepers kept the game scoreless.

The Pirates, who played for the first time in 10 days on Monday, will have another extended period of training before taking the pitch again, Friday Oct. 3 at Moorpark in their Western State Conference opener.  Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 pm.
