WOMEN'S SOCCER:  The Ventura College Pirate soccer team had 10 players honored with All-Western State Conference selections for the 2013 season as selected by the conference coaches last month. Four Pirates, sophomores Taylor C'debaca, Guadalupe Magaña and AJ Tewes, along with freshman Abigail Littleton received first-team nods for their efforts this season.

These four picked up the efforts after leading scorer Macey Herrera went down with a season-ending injury just a quarter of the way through the WSC season, leading the Pirates to a second place conference finish. Tewes and Littleton led Ventura with six goals each in conference play and C'debaca anchored the middle of the Pirate attack. Magana was a rock defensively into the midfield for the second straight season, as she and Tewes earned their second first-team All-WSC selection.

Second-team honorees for VC included freshmen Ashley Borrell, Miranda Campos and Delanie Gavid while freshman Hailee Dowell and sophoomore Dakota Thompson and Shayne Wells garnered honorable mention awards.
