WOMEN'S SOCCER:  The Ventura College women's soccer team closed out its 2013 Western State Conference North Division schedule with a 1-0 victory at Allan Hancock College on Tuesday afternoon. Abigail Littleton converted an assist by Marissa Campos in the 27th minute for the difference maker for the Pirates (14-3-2, 9-2-1). VC is currently in a first place tie with Los Angeles Pierce, but the Brahmas have on match remaining at Moorpark on Friday Nov. 15. VC hosts San Bernardino Valley College in a non-conference affair on Friday.

Even if Pierce pulls out a point against Moorpark and VC finishes second, the Pirates have accomplished much in this WSC season. After losing top-scorer Macey Herrera on Oct. 8 and dropping the next two matches at LAPC and at home against Santa Barbara, Ventura and head coach Steve Hoffman reinvented themselves, playing their final eight matches without a loss. Friday's home contest against San Bernardino Valley at 4:00 pm at the Sportsplex is key for the Pirates to maintain their No. 4 standing in Southern California headed into the regional playoffs.
