WOMEN'S SOCCER:  Soccer can be a cruel game. A team can control the ball and create many opportunities, but one mistake can cost a game. That was the case Friday in Woodland hills as Ventura held Los Angeles Pierce at bay for most of the match, but a failure to put the ball in the net, and a mistake that led to one Brahma goal in the first half cost the Pirates the match 1-0. AJ Tewes played well on the offensive end, but it was not enough as VC (7-2-1) dropped their first match in Western State Conference play.

The Pirates have little time to recover, however, as they host Santa Barbara City College in another key WSC match on Tuesday Oct. 15 at the VC Sportsplex. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
