Women's Basketball Falls at Gilcrest Tourney

The VC women's basketball team dropped a n 82-52 decision to Moorpark Friday on the second day of the Tom Gilcrest Invitational at the College of the Sequoias in Visalia. Alexa Coubal netted a team-high 18 points with nine rebounds and Sam McKenzie scored 11 with four boards. Alexis Howery contributed eight points to the effort while Daphné LeBrun handed out five assists and Elena Ferrara had three steals.

Ventura (6-2) hung tough in the opening period behind eight points and five rebounds by Coubal. 

Olivia Huynh had an offensive rebound and fed Coubal for two early in the second quarter as VC pulled to within 22-19 before the Raiders took control with a big run.

VC closes the tournament on Saturday Dec. 2 against Los Angeles Valley at 10:00 am.
