Four WBB Pirates Earn All-WSC Accolades

The Pirates women's basketball team had four players honored on the All-Western State Conference North Division team as determined by conference coaches following the regular season last month. Kenya Edelhart, Kylie Gallick and Sofia Torres-Reyes all earned their second straight first team All-WSC honors while Alisha Cruz-Lisberg was named Honorable Mention All-WSC.

Edelhart, who was the conference Most Valuable Player as a freshman, continued her strong performance in league play, averaging 14.0 points and 4.5 assists in the 12 WSCN contests, both team highs. the sophomore from Lancaster High School shot a combined 48.6/42.9/76.5  (FG/3FG/FT) and also pulled in a team-best 2.2 steals per contest.

Gallick, meanwhile, was a solid force inside for the Pirates in picking up her second All-WSC nod. The Buena High School alumna averaged a double-double of 13.1 points and 12.4 rebounds per game. She also shot a team-high 58.1 percent from the floor and made nearly 75 percent of her free throw attempts. 

Torres-Reyes, another Buena High School graduate, also netted double-figures in WSCN play, averaging 12.4 points per outing. She hit a team-high 22 3-pointers in conference play and made 76 percent of her free throw attempts. She also pulled in 2.2 steals in the 12 WSCN games.

Cruz-Lisberg, a sophomore from El Camino Real High School, continued her maturation as a player earning Honorable Mention All-WSC honors. She was fourth in the team with 8.2 points per contest, scoring in double-figures three times in WSCN games, including an 18-point performance on Feb. 8 against LA Pierce.

The Pirates ended the season with a 20-9 overall record, 8-4 in conference play, advancing to the second round of the Southern California Regional Playoffs.
