Edelhart Earns 2nd Team CCCWBCA All-State Award

Ventura College freshman point guard Kenya Edelhart has been named second team All-State by the California Community College Women's Basketball Coaches Association for the 2021-22 season. The Lancaster High School product becomes the 44th Pirate to earn all-state accolades and the 15th first-year player to receive the honor.

Edelhart returned from injury to lead the Pirates to a share of the program's 32nd Western State Conference title. She was named the WSC Most Valuable Player in voting by conference coaches following the season, the 20th Pirate and sixth freshman to earn the award.

On the season Edelhart led the team with a scoring average of 12.4 points per game with 3.1 assists. She made 42.9 percent of her shots from the floor and shot 74.4 percent from the free throw line. She was also a standout on defense handling opponent's primary ball handlers leading the Pirates to 11 consecutive wins to close the regular season.

Ventura was 13-4 on the year with Edelhart in the line-up.
