Pirate Women No. 11 in SoCal Regionals

After turning around their season after the new year and winning their final 11 games of the regular season, the Pirates' women's basketball team has received the No. 11 seed in the upcoming 2022 CCCAA Southern California Regional Playoffs. VC (16-10) will travel to No. 6 East Los Angeles (20-7) on Thursday March 3 at 5:00 pm in Monterey Park.

The Pirates who have been in the playoffs every year since at least 1990, claimed a share of their 32nd Western State Conference North Division championship in 2022 winning their final 11 games.  They experience an injury riddled non-conference season which produced a 5-9 non-conference record against a schedule that featured 10 games against playoff-bound teams.

East Los Angeles, meanwhile, enters the playoffs with a 20-6 season mark, finishing 6-2 in the South Coast Conference North Division behind No. 1 Mt. San Antonio.

The Huskies defeated the Pirates 59-53 on Nov. 12 in the Wild West Shootout at West LA. It was VC's first game of the year and ELAC's third.

The winner of Thursday's game will play on Saturday March 5 in the Regional Finals against No. 3 Moorpark or No. 14 Mt. San Jacinto / No. 19 Southwestern.

The CCCAA State Tournament will be held March 10, 12-13 at West Hills College Lemoore.

Tickets prices for the game are set by the CCCAA. General Admission will be $12, $8 for all identified students, faculty, staff , senior citizens age 60 and over, and children less than 12 years of age.
