Freshman guard Katie Campbell and sophomore guard Kyleesha Green have been named to the the California Community College Women's Basketball Coaches Association All-State team for the 2016-17 season. Campbell was a first-team All-State selection while Green earned a third-team All-State nod. The two become the program's 38th and 39th all-state selections since 1986. This is the 13th time since 1993 that two Pirates have been honored in the same season.
Campbell, the Western State Conference North Division MVP, leads the Pirates this season with a 17.9 points/game scoring average. She also pulls in 6.4 rebounds per game and hands out 3.5 assists with 1.2 blocked shots per outing. She has made 87 3-pointers on the year and is a 77.6 percent free throw shooter.
Green was a first-team All-WSC selection this season and scores 10.6 points per game with 5.6 rebounds and 5.0 assists per contest.
The Pirates, the 27-peat champions of the WSC North Division, currently have a record of 27-5 and will play San Francisco on Friday March 10 at 7:00 pm in the CCCAA State Elite Eight. Campbell, Green and the entire all-state team will be honored along with the Elite Eight teams at the CCCWBCA Banquet of Champions in Concord on Thursday.
