Kevin Sherry is in his first year as the Ventura College Throws Coach in 2021, bringing decades of experience coaching in Ventura County to the job. Over the past 26 years he has been the head coach for Track & Field at Santa Clara and St. Bonaventure high schools. In his ten years at St. Bonaventure the Seraphs captured two Tri-Valley League championships, two CIF-SS runner-up finishes with three state finalists in addition to more than 50 league champions. All but one school record wa established during his time at St. Bonnie.

For the past five years he has been the boys throws coach at Oxnard High School building a solid program with CIF qualifiers and Pacific View League finalists every year.

As an athlete Coach Sherry competed in shot, disc and javelin in high school and competed in several All-Navy track meets during his 23-year career in the US Navy. He also was an active Master’s Track athlete for several years in the Southern California region.

Coach Sherry holds USATF level I and Level II certifications.
 
Kevin is a native of Brooklyn, NY and a graduate of Fordham University. He holds a Master’s Degree from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA. After Fordham he enjoyed a 23-year career as a Naval Officer retiring from Pt. Mugu Naval Air Station in 1993 as a Commander. Post Navy, he had a 22-year career with Northrop Grumman retiring in 2015. He currently works part time for SAIC Inc. as a Business Development Consultant.
 
Kevin has lived in Camarillo since 1991 with his wife of 44 years Renée and three grown children, Jeremy. Meghan and Kyle.
