Caro Competes in Moorpark Multi for Women's Track & Field

Ventura College women's track and field freshman Julianne Caro (Simi Valley) made her heptathlon debut this past Thursday and Friday at Moorpark College. The Simi Valley product showcased her versatility and resilience over two days of competition totaling 2,212 points, qualifying her for the Southern California Regionals April 2-3.

On day one, Caro faced adverse weather conditions but powered through the 100-meter hurdles with a commendable time of 21.94. In the high jump, she reached a height of 4' 1.25", followed by a shot-put throw of 21' 6.75". Closing the day, she completed the 200m in 30.68. 

Caro returned on day two with a lifetime best in the long jump, covering a distance of 15' .75". The javelin event saw her achieve a throw of 50' 5". Wrapping up the heptathlon with the 800m, she clocked 3:08.10.

Julianne's early season performance earned her a total of 2212 points, meeting the Southern California Regional Heptathlon standard. Notably, during this heptathlon, marked her first time competing in the 100 hurdles, shot put, javelin, and high jump. With her eyes set on further challenges, Caro is now qualified for the upcoming Southern California heptathlon at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut scheduled for April 2-3.
