Men's and Women's Track & Field Opens 2020 Season

The Ventura College men's and women's track and field teams opened their 2020 seasons Friday at Bakersfield College in the annual Battle of the Regions. The Pirates had a solid opening day of competition, collecting 18 SoCal Championships minimum standard qualifying marks. 

For the Women, the duo of Alisann Tolosa and Brieanna Tafoya went 1-2 overall in the 800m, cruising to both win both their heats. Olivia Burton added to the success on the track with a 3rd place finish in the 3000m and a 6th place finish in the 1500m. Isabelle Egbert was 6th place overall in the 3000m and 9th in the 1500m. 

Aubrianna Smith was a double individual qualifier with a 3rd and 4th place finish in the 100m and 200m sprints. She was also the third leg of the 2nd place women's 4x100m relay team consisting of Gillian Serate, Ariana Vera, and Tajanae Mack. Serate was also 3rd in the triple jump, 7th in the long jump, and 12th in the 100m. Mack added two more with 2nd and 6th place finishes in the 400m hurdles and 100m hurdles. Catalina Escobal had a 10th place finish in the long jump.

For the Men, Jake Reinwald placed 3rd overall in the long jump, was 6th in the 200m, and was part of the qualifying 4x400m relay team consisting of Julian Gibson, Brandon Sarmiento, and Pierson Reynolds. Reynolds was also 9th place overall in the 800m. Jaedon Rogers added to the qualifying marks with a 7th place finish in the long jump.

The Pirates travel to West Los Angeles College Friday, Feb. 14 to compete in the Western State College Relays at 9:00am.
