Tristan Griffith saved his best for last.  In his final race in the orange and black, the sophomore sprinter from Camarillo High School ran a lifetime best 47.48, to capture third place in the 400 meters at the CCCAA State Track and Field Championships at American River College in Sacramento Saturday. Griffith improved on his previous PR of 47.82, set in the regional finals a year ago, to move into fourth place overall in Ventura College history, earning his first All-American award.

Griffith, who came into the finals ranked third in the state, maintained that ranking while improving on his fifth place finish in the race last season.

"We had a good race plan coming in, " commented head coach Tony Veney, "and Tristan followed the plan exactly as we had laid it out."

Griffith leaves the program ranked in the top-10 in the 4x100 relay, 4x400 relay, sprint medley relay, 200 meters and 400 meters, making him one of the most prolific sprinters in school history.
