The Ventura College men's and women's track team made their third trip to Bakersfield College a productive one at the Bakersfield Relays Saturday afternoon. Highlighted by Montre Lee's triple gold medal performance, the Pirates collected a total of 21 medals, as both teams finished second in team standings.
Lee won both the 100 and 200 meters, and teamed up with Michael Brown, Leo Ramirez, and Ronald Washington to grab the 4x100 meter relay gold. Dylan Roberts also had a multi-medal day winning both the long and triple jump competitions. Other first place finishes included Alisha Greenlaw (100m Hurdles), Brigitte Kiesewetter (1500 meters), Jordyn Vassaur (3000 meters), and Marissa Tobin (Pole Vault).
Silver medals were won by Washington (100 meters), Alexis Miron (3000 meters), Paul Gonzales (3000m Steeplechase), Kiesewetter (3000 meters), and Greenlaw (Triple Jump).
Bronze medal efforts were turned in by Ramirez (100 meters), Michael Brown (400 meters), Gonzales (3000 meters), O'Cean Brown (110m High Hurdles), Donnie Silecchio (Shot Put), and Vassaur (1500 meters).
Pirate distance runners will compete at the Occidental College Distance Carnival Friday March 13 while the rest of the team trains through. The first event at Occidental will be the women's 800 meters at 5:00 pm.
