M & W TRACK & FIELD:  The Ventura College track and field teams participated in the Western State Conference Preliminaries Friday at College of the Canyons with spots to the WSC Championships and the Southern California Regionals on the line. On the men's side, Jake Herbold (400 hurdles), Edwin Herrera (PR in the 1500m), Ruben Juanillo (1500m) and Montre Lee (double qualifier in the 100 & 200m) highlighted the day. The women scored a little better as Danielle Colvin (400m), Bailey Crowley (800m) and Sabrina Sewell (1500m) advance to next weeks finals. Additionally, by virtue of the their Top-6 finishes in the field event finals, four punched their tickets to the SoCal Prelims. Colvin (long jump), and Andisha Steward, Brittnee Jones, and Brooke Dixon (discus) all qualified for the regional preliminaries.

"The young people performed well this weekend," commented head coach Tony Veney. "Effort has always been the team mantra and it was evident by young people who advanced and those that did not. There are 15 men's and women's final events still up for grabs so we are optimistic of our chances to advance more young people to Riverside City College in two weeks."

The WSC Finals will take place at Antelope Valley College on Friday April 25 with field events at 1:00 pm and the first running event going off at 2:00 pm.
