TRACK AND FIELD:  On the strength of four individual first place finishes, the Ventura College women's track and field team finished first in the Western State Conference Coastal Meet Friday at Cuesta College. Sabrina Sewell (400m hurdles), Brooke Dixon (shot put), Brittnee Jones (hammer throw) and Andisha Steward (discus) all won events to help propel the Pirates to victory. Meanwhile the VC men finished a strong third place, just seven points out of first place among the five teams competing. Dylan Roberts (triple jump), Steven Lang (hammer throw) and the 4x400 m relay team all brought home golds.

The Pirate women scored 162 points, finishing ahead of second place Cuesta (160) and third place Santa Barbara (145). Santa Monica, Moorpark and Allan Hancock rounded out the six team field.

Jones placed in three events. In addition to her hammer throw gold, she was second in the discus and third in the shot put. Danielle Colvin placed in three events, the 200m (second), 400m (third), and long jump (third). meanwhile Sewell added a third place finish in the 1500m to her hurdles win and Dixon was second in the hammer, in addition to her shot put gold. Steward was third in the hammer throw along with her first i the discus, and Bailey Crowley finished third in the 800m.

VC's men's team scored 147 points, finishing behind Hancock (154) and Santa Barbara (148), and ahead of Santa Monica and Cuesta.

Roberts captured in the triple jump and was third in the long jump and Montre Lee was third in the 100m and second in the 200m. Keenan Davis was second in the long jump. Ruben Juanillo was second in the 1500m while Rolandon Marigny finished third in the 400m. Jake Herbold placed third in the 400m hurdles.

The Pirates will travel to the Mt. SAC Relays on Saturday April 12 before heading into the WSC prelims Friday April 18 at College of the Canyons.
