Pirates Medal at Easter Relays

TRACK & FIELD:  The Ventura College track and field programs competed in the Santa Barbara Easter Relays on Friday March 21 and walked away with an impressive medal harvest. The gold medal haul included Brooke Dixon in the shot put, only days after winning a state basketball title, Sabrina Sewell in the 400 hurdles and an impressive double gold performances by Dylan Roberts in long jump and triple jump and Brittnee Jones in the hammer and discus throw (giving her three medals on the day).

Silver medals were won by Rolandon Marigny (800 meters), Joshua Garay (triple jump), Dixon (hammer throw), Danielle Colvin (long jump) and the distance medley team of Edwin Herrera, Kyle Mochizuki, Michael Brown, and Ruben Juanillio.

Bronze medals were won by Nisa Contreras (400 hurdles), Jake Herbold (400 hurdles), Dylan Roberts (long jump), and Jones (shot put).

"The medals were great for the team," commented head coach, Tony Veney, "but we also had several seasonal and lifetime bests that come at the perfect time as we roll into the stretch drive toward the WSC Championships held at College of the Canyons and Antelope Valley."

The Pirates' next meet takes them to San Luis Obispo for the Western State Conference Coastal competition at Cuesta College. The first field event starts at 11:00am and the first running event begins at 2:00 pm.
