Jacobus Claims SoCal Diving Gold, Dingman Qualifies for State

Pirate sophomore Ayden Jacobus won both the 1m and 3m diving competitions Friday at the SoCal and WSC Diving Championships in Long Beach.

VC's Ayden Jacobus won two gold medals Friday, winning the Southern California 1m and 3m diving championships. The wins also combined for conference gold in the upcoming Western State Conference Championships next week. Wyatt Dingman, meanwhile, also qualified for the state championships with his performance in the two events in Long Beach.

Jacobus won the regional and conference title in the 3m event posting a score of 248.00 through six dives, 55.55 points ahead of the second place competitor. Dingman was fourth in the regional and third in the WSC competitions with a score of 156.90.  

In the 1m event, Jacobus posted 224.60 points with six dives, 27.95 points ahead of second place. Dingman was ninth e in the regional competition and fifth in the WSC event at 146.55.

Both divers qualified for the 3C2A State Championships May 2-4 at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa.

In the women's 1m event, Sarah Glassman earned points in the upcoming WSC Championships with a 12th place finish and Izabel Magana came in 14th. In the 3m event, Glassman placed ninth.

The Pirate swimmers return to the pool Thursday-Saturday, April 18-20 at the WSC Championships at the Ventura Aquatic Center.
