Pirate Athletics Lists 83 4-Year Transfers for 2019-20
August 31, 2020The Ventura College Athletic Department is pleased to report that they list 83 student athletes from 2019-20 who are slated to transfer to four-year institutions in the fall, as of August 31. Of those transfers, 60 plan on continuing their athletic careers at their new school, most of them with an athletic scholarship. The transferring student athletes will attend 58 different schools in 26 states around the country. -
2020 Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Review
May 04, 2020The season had barely began, and then it was over. In a sport where progression of training builds to a pair of three-day meets at the end of the season, the Ventura College men's and women's swimming and diving teams had barely gotten in the pool before the coronavirus ended the year. Despite the short campaign, the Pirates still managed to make their mark.

CCCAA Cancels Spring Seasons, Restores Eligibility
March 20, 2020The California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Board of Directors voted unanimously on Thursday that the remainder of the 2020 spring sports season will be canceled, the spring season of competition for approximately 9,500 student-athletes will be restored and face-to-face recruiting and recruiting-related travel is being prohibited immediately but will be re-evaluated next month. Ventura College is a participant in the CCCAA, and the college has moved to all online instruction for the remainder of the spring semester.

VC Athletics Postpones Spring Sports Indefinitely
March 13, 2020In accordance with a directive from the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA), Ventura College has indefinitely postponed all spring sports, including nontradtional seasons, due to concerns over the COVID-19 outbreak. The move was voted upon by the CCCAA Board of Directors on Thursday afternoon.

Swimming & Diving Competes at WSC #2 at Cuesta
February 29, 2020The Pirates men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed at the Western State Conference Invite No. 2 hosted by Cuesta Saturday in San Luis Obispo. The VC men placed second of nine teams while the women finished eight of the 10 competing teams. Lauren Hooyer won the 50-yard freestyle for the women's best finish while Lester Wright and Atruro Medina brought home gold for the Pirate men.

Men's Swimming & Diving Takes WSC #1 at Citrus
February 14, 2020The Pirates' men's swimming and diving team took first place at the Western State Conference No. 1 meet at Citrus College in Glendora on Friday. Lester Wright continued his prowess in the 1m and 3m diving competitions while Marcel Hurtibise, Johnny Van Mannaks. Collin Spargur and Arturo Medina all turned in individual gold medal performances. The Pirate women came in fourth place overall led by the first place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay.

VC Swimming & Diving Teams Open Season Strong
February 07, 2020The Pirates' men's and women's swimming and diving teams opened their 2020 campaign on Friday hosting the Larry Baratte Invitational. The VC men were second and the women were fourth in the Western State Conference preview event named for Ventura's Hall of Fame coach who retired in 2016. Lester Wright had a record-setting day in the 1m and 3m diving competitions while Arturo Medina and Marcel Hurtubise also won events. Masiel Martinez and Raylynn Lipsky earned the highest finished for the VC women.
