VC sophomore swimmer Cooper Fuchs claimed the silver medal in the 100-yard backstroke Friday, highlighting the second day of competition for the Ventura College men's and women's swimming and diving teams at the CCCAA State Championships at De Anza College in Cupertino. Fuchs touched in 51.03, less than half a second off the gold medal pace. Meanwhile Marcel Hurtubise also earned individual points for the Pirate men while Adrianna Bese, Alli Hopkins and Gracelyn De La Cruz earned individual points for the VC women.
The VC Men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed on Day 1 of the CCCAA State Championships at De Anza College in Cupertino with the Pirate women totaling 51 points, good for a tie for ninth place overall, and the Ventura men earning 42 points for 12th place in the standings. Alli Hopkins and Cooper Fuchs led the Women and men, respectively, on the first day of state competition.

Izaiah Martinez claimed third in the 3m diving event, followed by Rawley Mathis in fifth while Cooper Fuchs was fourth in the 100-yard freestyle. Adrianna Bese, Kaitlin Reagan and Aryanna Martinez all earned points as individuals for the VC women.

Alli Hopkins and Adrianna Bese each had individual seventh place finished to lead the VC women.

Cooper Fuchs led the VC men with four top-10 finishes while Marcel Hurtubise and Tobias Hynes also produced a pair of top-10 performances. For the women, Alli Hopkins and Gracelyn De La Cruz both had two top-10 finishes.
