Katie Heath 5th in WSC 1m and 3m Diving Events

Pirate freshman Katie Heath earned VC's first points in the Western State Conference Swimming and Diving Championships. She came in fifth place finish in both the 1m and 3m springboard diving competition at the WSC/SoCal Diving Championships at El Camino College in Torrance Friday and Saturday. With her performance, she gave the Ventura women 28 points heading into next week's WSC Championships at Bakersfield.

In the 1m event on Friday, Heath scored 122.15 points in her six optional dives.  She came in 1.85 points behind the fourth place finisher and 17.6 points behind the conference winner. In the regional competition, Heath came in 14th place.

On Saturday, Heath returned to the pool for the 3m event, repeating her fifth place showing. She amassed 91.40 points in her six dives, 20.75 points out of fourth. The WSC champion totaled 181.65 points in the 3m event. She placed 16th in the SoCal regional contest.

Heath and her Pirate teammates will next take to the pool on Thursday April 19 beginning the three-day WSC Championships at Bakersfield College.
