Swimmers Score During One Day at Pasadena City College Invitational

The Ventura College men's and women's swim teams had good performances Friday at the Pasadena City College Invitational. Cooper Fuchs continued his strong season earning points in three individual events and with two more relay teams. Meanwhile, Adrianna Bese had the best finish for the Pirate women, and helped also one relay into the scoring column.

Fuchs best finish came in the 50-yard freestyle in which he covered the distance in 21.06 for a second place finish. He also came in fourth in the 200-yard backstroke and sixth in the 200-yard freestyle events. David Peterson also earned points in two individual events, 14th place in the in the 200-yard freestyle and 15th in the 200-yard individual medley. VC's men's 200-yard medley relay team of Joseph Padilla, Peterson, Joseph MacDonald and Fuchs placed eighth and the 400-yard medley relay team made up of the same quartet came in 10th place.

For the Pirate women, Bese had the best finish of the day, a seventh place in the 100-yard breast stroke. She was also 14th in the 100-yard butterfly event. Christina Jimenez touched in 14th place in the 500-yard freestyle while Kelsey Golden earned points in 15th place in the 50-yard freestyle. Sabrina Cherfane turned in a 16th place performance in the 100-yard butterfly. The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Cherfane, Bese, Katia Flores and Golden finished 10th and the 40-yard medley relay quartet of Katie HeathTallulah Lund-Sidi, Sarah Rundle and Jimenez finished in 14th place.

The Pirates' next competition in the pool in the Western State Conference Championships. the three-day meet will be held Thursday through Saturday, April 19-21 in Bakersfield.
