Pirate Divers Earn WSC Points; Crilly Qualifies for State

The Ventura College men's swim team had two divers compete in the Western State Conference and SoCal Regional Championships at El Camino College Friday and Saturday.  Deonn Crilly and David Kromka earned 66 points for the Pirates for the upcoming WSC Swimming Championships April 20-22 in Santa Maria.  Additionally, Crilly qualified for the CCCAA State Championships to be held May 4-6 at East Los Angeles College.

On Friday, the two competed in the 3m springboard competition. Crilly earned 133.65 points on his six dives, good for a third place finish in the regional competition and the WSC championship.  His top-8 place earns him a trip to the state championships May 4-6 at East LA College.

Kromka, meanwhile, earned 98.60 points, good for a 21st place finish in the regional competition, and a sixth place finish in the conference totals.

In Saturday's 1m springboard results, Crilly produced a total of 132.80 points for a second place WSC finish and 12th place in the regional contest. Kromka totaled 131.30 points for the bronze finish in the WSC championships and 13th place in the SoCal standings.

VC's men's and women's swim teams will travel to Santa Maria April 20-22 for the WSC Championships hosted by Allan Hancock College, then conclude the season with the CCCAA State Championships May 4-6 at East Los Angeles College.
