The Pirate softball team traveled to San Luis Obispo Tuesday, dropping an 11-3 decision to host Cuesta in Western State Conference play. Alyssa Jacinto had a pair of hits and two runs batted in for VC and Chelsea Trejo also recorded two hits, including a double, with an RBI.

Ventura got off to a fast start in the top of the first, scoring three runs. Jennie Jacinto led off with a single and advanced to second on a passed ball. Haylie Lopez got on base on a Cougar error and promptly stole second. Savanna Higgins drew a walk to load the bases before Trejo singled to score J. Jacinto after the first out of the inning. A. Jacinto followed with a two-RBI single scoring Lopez and Higgins for the 3-0 edge.

Unfortunately, the Pirate highlights ended in the top of the first as Cuesta scored twice in the bottom half of the frame before scoring one in the second and six times in the third. The Cougars scored twice in the bottom of the fifth to walk off with the run-rule decision.

VC will next host Moorpark on Thursday April 11 at 2:30 pm.
