The Ventura College softball team raced to a 13-0 five-inning victory over Los Angeles Pierce Thursday at the VC Softball Complex. Jennie Jacinto had three hits, including a double, and scored twice and Kaliona Hernandez recorded a pair of hits with two runs scored. Alyssa Jacinto also had a pair of hits and a run batted in while Kiara Harrison totaled three RBI in the game on two hits while scoring a pair of runs. Chelsea Trejo hit a two-run home run and also pitched a complete game to pick up the win.

J. Jacinto led off the game for Ventura with a single. She came all the way around to score when Alexyss Campos reached first base on an error, moving all the way to third for a 1-0 Pirate lead.

The Pirates added three more runs in the second inning. Alyssa Jacinto hit a single and Haylie Lopez sacrificed her to scoring position one out later. Harrison came up with the clutch hit, and RBI single, to continue the at-bat and J. Jacinto also hit a single. Both runners moved ahead one base on another error before Campos hit a two-RBI single for the 4-0 count.

Ventura broke the game wide open with a four-run third inning. Jade Loeffler made it to first on an error and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Trejo's fly ball out moved Loeffler to third before A. Jacinto singled her home. Hernandez followed with a single and Lopez tripled to clear the bases, scoring on a passed ball during the next at-bat.

A Loeffler one-out triple and Trejo's two-run bomb started the bottom of the fourth for VC. One out later Hernandez singled and Lopez reached base on an error before Harrison's two-RBI single. J. Jacinto doubled to move Harrison to third, Campos walked, and the runners moved forward on a passed ball with Hernandez scoring to complete the 13-0 margin.

Trejo scattered six hits over her five innings of work in the circle, striking out three for the shutout win.

Ventura plays at LA Valley on Friday April 5 before resuming Western State Conference play on Tuesday April 9 at Cuesta.
