The Pirate softball team dropped a decision to visiting Citrus Monday in a make-up game at the VC Softball Complex, the first of four games this week for VC. Jennie Jacinto, Jade Loeffler, Alyssa Jacinto and Kaliona Hernandez all had hits for Ventura in the game.

Chelsea Trejo made the start in the pitcher's circle for Ventura and she limited the 19th-ranked Owls to six runs over the first three innings of play.

J. Jacinto led off the bottom of the first inning with a single and she stole second before being stranded in scoring position.

Hernandez doubled to lead off the third and moved to third on a groundball out.

In the bottom of the fifth, Loeffler and A. Jacinto each singled with two outs, but the Pirates could not find the clutch hit to bring home a run.

Ventura next travels to Los Angeles Pierce College on Tuesday March 12 and to Santa Ana on Wednesday March 13 before returning home on Thursday March 14 to host Cuesta.
