The VC softball team dropped its home game with College of the Canyons Tuesday at the VC Softball Complex. Savanna Higgins had a hit and scored a run for the Pirates and Kaliona Hernandez had a hit and an RBI.
Ventura took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. With two outs, Higgins singled and stile second. Following a walk by Alyssa Jacinto, Hernandez hit an RBI single to score Higgins.
Unfortunately, that would be the only offense the Pirates could come up with during the game.
The Cougars responded with a run in the second and five in the third to take control of the game.
Ventura next travels to Bakersfield on Thursday February 29 before opening Western State Conference North Division play at Santa Barbara on Thursday March 7.
