The Ventura College softball team dropped a 15-7 decision against Antelope Valley Thursday at the VC Softball Complex. Jennie Jacinto was 2-4 on the day with a run scored and a run batted in while sister Alyssa Jacinto also had a pair of hits with an RBI. Savanna Higgins hit an RBI triple for VC and Alexyss Campos recorded a pair of runs batted in.

After yielding a five-spot in the top of the first, Ventura came back with a pair of runs in the bottom half of the column. Jennie singled to lead off and went to second on an error. One out later Higgins hit an RBI triple and Alyssa followed with an RBI single.

The Pirates also scored in the bottom of the second when Campos was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, forcing Victoria Rodriguez home from third base.

Ventura also plated four runs in the bottom half of the third. Jade Loeffler led off with a walk and Chelsea Trejo followed with a single. Raylene Reyes walked to load the bases and Kaliona Hernandez hit an RBI single. One out later Jennie batted in a pair of runs by Reyes and Trejo, respectively, with a single before Campos popped up to score Hernandez from third.

Unfortunately the Pirates were not able to keep up with the Marauders and AVC left with a 15-7 win in six innings.

Ventura plays at home again on Tuesday Feb. 27 against College of the Canyons. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
